Wine – A Royal Drink

Wine is an alcoholic drink made by fermenting the grape juice with the help of various kinds of yeast. The yeast tends to absorb the sugar present in the grape juice and converts the same into alcohol. Wine is a special, natural and old alcoholic drink which is being consumed and practiced since ancient times.

Wine is also said to be an important drink during special Christian and Jewish occasions such as Eucharist. It is said that the wine was first produced in Iran and Georgia. Wine is also an important beverage in cuisines and is used as a flavoring agent in most of the recipes. Wine is also used as an appetizer during meals and therefore each sip of a wine will help to enrich your appetite. Wine contains about 10% to 20% alcohol depending upon the process of fermentation. The quality of the wine totally depends upon its age and therefore older the wine, the better is its fermentation and quality.

There are wide varieties of wine and each of them has its own flavor and taste. The most famous, special and royal wines are Barbera, Cabernet Sauvigon, Chardonnay, Riesling and Sangiovese. Barbera wine is made from Barber grapes which are mostly cultivated in warm coastal regions. It has a strong cherry flavor and an intense red colored appearance. Cabernet Sauvigon wine is produced from Cabernet grapes which are mostly grown in cool and damp climate regions. It has a consistent herbal flavor and an intense purple colored appearance.

Chardonnay wine is produced from chardonnay grapes that can be cultivated in any regions and any climate. This wine appears in white color and has a rich and pleasing flavor and taste. Riesling wine is made from Riesling grapes that are mostly grown in the cooler regions. It has a white color appearance, low alcohol content, fruity and flowery taste and flavor. Sangiovese wine is produced from sangiovese grapes which are mostly cultivated in the Tuscany regions of Italy. It has a dark red appearance and a plum or cherry like taste and flavor.

There are many other types of wine that has pleasant taste and flavor. Wine can not only be produced from grapes but also from other fruits such as cherries, berries, pineapple, apple, melons etc. It’s flavor, appearance, taste and quality depends upon the nature of fermentation. Preparation of wine seems to be very simple and easy; therefore anyone can prepare it by following certain techniques and instructions thus making its flavor, quality and taste pleasant and appetizing.

Wine is alcoholic and highly acidic in nature and therefore it should be consumed in small quantity. Large intake of wine can lead to adverse health problems especially cardiovascular problem. The research shows that red wine is much safer than white wine as it contains few quantities of polyphenols and Resveratrol which are type of antioxidants that help to maintain proper health and fitness of our body. White wine should be consumed in a very small quantity as it contains harmful compounds which can cause serious health problems if consumed in large quantity.
